Fun Day

Fun Day is always an experience to look forward to and remember fondly. This past Fun Day was no exception. Students across the school broke up into their color houses – red, yellow, blue, and green – for the first time this year.

I was on the Blue Team!

The games in the gym were a highlight of the day!

With Miss de-Bourne’s help, all the students worked together on a collaborative art project that will go on display at school. This was messy and fun!

More Watercolors

3G is an artistic bunch! We continued our watercolor unit by studying some art history. Students attempted to paint in the style of Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Chinese, 1700’s Europeans, or modern Caribbean artists.

Math Games

Learning to round to the nearest tens and hundreds is a little bit tricky and little bit dry. Adding a dice game certainly improves enthusiasm!

IPC Brain Research

Students were highly focused when researching how to keep brains healthy. It can be a lot of fun to dive into expository books and articles. The brain is pretty cool! 🧠

Respect for the Aged Day

3G reflected on the importance of elders in their lives with Mrs. Fishburn during Religious Studies. Students were in touch with their crafty side while making these flowers.

Music Games

3G loves Music Class with Ms. Kumagai. Recently, they played some games together at the end of a long day.

Neurons

In our IPC Brainwave unit, students are learning about the mysteries of the brain. We practiced making connections in our thinking with a hands-on activity connecting each other with string, forming a network of “neurons” becoming stronger and stronger.

Mac Lab

3G visited the Mac Lab for the first time this week. We took the opportunity to explore the new Wonders program online. Our Language Arts curriculum has some great resources and activities available for students from home or at school.

Scholastic Book Club

Our first Scholastic Book Club is now open until October 3rd. You can browse and purchase books through the button below. Select “Mr. Geyer 3G” during checkout to have your books delivered directly to school with free shipping.

First Collaborations

This week 3G embarked on their first IPC mini-unit Brainwave. Students are learning about the brain and how humans learn in order to maximize metacognitive abilities. Sounds like a superhero super power! 💥

Earlier in the week, we went on a detective search through the school to find evidence of learning. Then, the class split up into small teams to think carefully about what it really means. The class is now working on some definitions of the terms knowledge, skills, and understanding. We will use these definitions to navigate our studies throughout the school year.

First Day of School

We are back to school! 3G students are settling into new routines with new friends. Here are our official first day photos.
