Reading

Storytelling Week

Next week we celebrate International Storytelling from March 18-22. Every day after school, there will be an open storytime in the library. Everyone is invited to join, no matter what language you speak! This will be a very fun event bringing together languages and cultures from across the world. Staff, parents, and students will collaborate on this exciting event.

Animal Museum

The 4th Annual Animal Museum was a big success! Thank you to all those who were able to join us. The students were extremely excited to show off their learning. They were also wiped out by the end of the day. This was a terrific culmination to our research unit.

Preparing the museum exhibits

Showtime!

Animal Museum: Next Week!

Please join us to celebrate third graders’ learning about how to research. Students have worked very hard to research and present an exhibition to share with the school community.

Library 📚

Just a casual visit to the library. This is how reading should feel.

Enoshima Aquarium

We hopped on the bus and headed out to Enoshima Aquarium last week! The weather was warm and we had a super trip. Students learned about marine animals, ecosystems, and of course penguins! 🐧

…and a moment of zen.

Back at it!

I apologize for the lack of updates on our blog. I maxed out the storage after posting several years of 3G excitement and I was struggling to get past some technical hurdles. However, we are back up and running now. 💻

Reading Nonfiction

Understanding how to read nonfiction text is a critical skill we’re learning in 3rd grade. Students learn how to navigate a nonfiction book to find specific information. We also share our new knowledge by teaching each other.

Thanksgiving Gifts

I was so lucky to receive Thanksgiving gifts from my class this year! I believe this is the first time I ever received presents on American Thanksgiving. There were many tasty autumn treats and a beautiful collaborative card. I am thankful for these children every day of the year. 🦃🍂🍄

Creating a whisk

3G students designed and created their own original whisks for frothing milk. We’re looking forward to making milkshakes! After drafting a plan on paper, students set out to bring their design to life with wires and ingenuity.

Grammar Scavenger Hunt

Ms. Mukhi shared some photos from 3G’s mini scavenger hunt. Students searched for small tasks cards placed around the room – some in obvious locations, others more obscure – then, tried to correct the quotation mistakes.
