Gr. 3 Christmas Performance

O Come, All Ye Faithful!

For the Elementary Christmas Production this year, Grade 3 performed a short Nativity skit. Storyteller’s used their own words to discuss the Christmas stories, while the angels, shepherds, sheep, kings, and Mary & Joseph brought the story to life.

Their lively and bright performance brought smiles to all! Incredible work, Grade 3!

The Christmas Cheer Advent Calendar

This Christmas 3RB wants to encourage the whole school to spread acts of kindness. We have created an advent calendar to count down the days leading up to Christmas. Please check out our calendar daily to see what act of kindness you can gift to a friend this holiday season!

The Sakura Medal Reading Challenge

It is Sakura Medal season again! Every year the incoming Grade 3 students are faced with a new and exciting challenge: chapter books.

The students may select from 20 different books that are Sakura Medal candidates. If they can read a minimum of five books, the students can vote for the Sakura Medal winner for the season.

This year the students in 3RB have decided to create and participate in a Sakura Medal challenge. We are pushing ourselves to read as many of the 20 books as possible! We can hardly wait to get started!

To learn more about the Sakura Medal books, please check out the Saint Maur Sakura blog.

Reading Fun Day

On October 19th we celebrated our love of reading with a fun day! We arrived at school dressed as beloved literary characters and decorated our classroom doors as book covers.

In 3RB we created door covers for The Lorax by Dr. Seuss and Miss Nelson is Missing! by James Marshall.

In the afternoon we enjoyed many activities with the whole school including sharing our favourite books, listening to special guest readers, and participating in teacher led workshops.

A big thank you to teachers, parents, and students for a fantastic day of fun!

International Day

October 16th was International Day! As a school we celebrated the wealth of countries and cultures that make up our Saint Maur community. Students came to school in outfits that celebrated their own countries or countries they have lived in or admire.

We started our day with a parade and a photo shoot:

Throughout the day we has parent visitors come to our Grade and share a bit about their own cultures.

We learned about France…

…and Mexico!

We also had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious potluck and a fantastic film.

Thank you parents, teachers, and students for making International Day a great success!
