Japanese Culture Day 2018

March 23rd was Japanese Culture Day. The students arrived dressed in clothing with a Japanese connection.

They started the morning with a special assembly where they sang “Ponyo” for the Elementary School and family members.

The students had the exciting opportunity to watch and participate in a traditional Japanese Kyogen.

Lunch time was an abundant feast! During the potluck some of the Grade 3 family members volunteered to teach the students how to make delicious onigirazu and sakura mochi. Yummy!

After lunch some Grade 3 mothers taught the students how to create beautiful origami balloon garlands.

Thank you to all the parents who provided food and volunteered to help out during this fantastic day. Many thanks to the Japanese department for organising Japanese Culture Day!

Have a wonderful spring break!
