It’s our P.E./Movement Day! We hope you will enjoy the activities which were sent in by the teachers of the 3 age groups for you to do!! We hope that you are staying healthy by 1) eating well, 2) washing your hands properly and 3) exercising!
3 Year Olds (in Ms. Barbara and Mrs. Almoula’s group)
The three-year olds work hard on following directions and refining their coordination. Here is a simple song/dance you can do!
4 Year Olds (in Miss Yuri and Ms. Hoshi’s group)
I hope the children are enjoying dancing and exercise at home. While we are also at home, we would like to continue helping children building their muscle strength through activities and different moves and learn to calm their bodies after their exercises.
(1)Dynamic Warm-Up exercise:
We start with warm-ups. Please make sure they are aware of their surroundings and make their own “bubble.” (Space) We have been warming up by doing jumping jacks, arm circles, walking knee-hug, leg swings (both left and right), and hopping ten times.
If visuals help, here is a 9 minute video of how they could warm up as well.
(2) Calming Down Exercise:
The children could sit criss-cross apple sauce (crossed leg) and try to calm down their bodies through this breathing and stretching exercise.
5 Year Olds ~ Pre-First Graders (in Mr. Dale and Mr. Myk’s group)
Today, the kids will go to the jungle and meet a few creatures that they can pose like. Please watch the video entirely first so that you can pause at strategic moments so that you and your child can have enough time to copy the poses and breathe properly. We breathe in and out of our noses.
Differentiation: Take note of the child’s balance and form. If they are performing well, extending the pose for a few more breaths/seconds would help with their muscle strength and endurance. If they are struggling to copy the poses exactly, they could either take a few quick rests/resets within the same pose and then try again.

Have any of you gone to the Noge Zoo with your family before? I hope that your trip to the zoo did not end up the way Mr. McGees’ trip does….

Are you helping your parents with chores in the house? I always set the table for our family dinner when I was you age… Maybe you can lean how to do something which could be helpful to your family?

Craft time! Would you like to make “I love you” sign using your traced hand?
The sign “I love you” with one hand looks like this.
1 Trace your right hand on a piece of paper, and cut it out. Turn it over so your thumb is showing on the right.
2 As in the picture, make sure your thumb and pointer are making the letter L (for love).
3 Bending your middle and ring fingers, glue the two fingers on your palm, and have your pinky point up.
Now your hand is saying “I love you”!
4 Mount it on a colored paper, and give it to the person you love. You can even make a heart with origami, and paste it.

Now, here are some activities you can do.
1.) Pass the Ice Cream = A Sharing Game
You will need
* 2 or more players (your mom, dad, brothers/sisters, friends, anyone!)
* Paper, a little stiffer than regular paper, to make the cone
* Crayons, colored pencils or something to color with
* Some glue or tape to stick the cone together
* A ball (light weight is good)
-Put lines on a piece of paper like the lines on an ice cream cone and color if you wish.
-Roll the paper into a cone and glue or paste it together. Your cone should be able to fit your ball.
-Now, your ready to play!
-Pass the ball to each other and try not to drop it! How can you share and help each other out? It is good to ask questions like “Would you like some ice cream?” and answer with a “Yes, please,” or “No thank you.”, etc.

(1) Musical time/Dance moves:
Party While We’re Young: This is child-friendly music so please do not worry!
This has simple moves such as… show your right/left hand, show your right/left foot, spin your head around, touch the ground and reach the clouds.
When the song goes “Party Party~” the children are free to do their own moves, follow the dancers on youtube or you can also teach them some simple dance moves.
You may also watch the video with the children and dance along. It is a nice upbeat song getting their sillies out!
(2) Calming Down Exercise:

The students have some experience with yoga that we did in class and we have done it in an adventure story way wherein we imagine we travel to the safari or the arctic to find things that we can copy or pose similar to.
In this assignment, the kids will go to the ocean and meet a few sea creatures that they can pose like. Please watch the video entirely first so that you can pause at strategic moments so that you and your child can have enough time to copy the poses and breathe properly. We breathe in and out through our nose.
