<\/a><\/p>\nIt’s already the end of the school year! \u00a0Each child accomplished so much in the 10\u00a0months! \u00a0A great example is how the older children made maps of the continents, countries\u2014and territories or provinces\u2014learning the names and the flags.<\/p>\n
There were so many new things to be discovered, explored, and mastered through the activities chosen on their own\u2014to be done independently, in pairs, or in groups. \u00a0The school theme of the year, “communication and collaboration,” took place every\u00a0day in the classroom. \u00a0Each child studied about their world and about the rich variety of countries that they and their classmates come from.<\/p>\n
For\u00a0Mother’s Day<\/strong> on May 14th, the children made a bead bracelet for their moms. \u00a0It took a lot of concentration. The set of beads chosen were either of the large or small variety, depending on what size the child preferred working with. \u00a0A colored card was provided for\u00a0each child to draw\u00a0their mom. \u00a0Moms loved their cards and bracelets.<\/p>\n Montessori Sports Day<\/strong> was held on May 19th in the school gymnasium. \u00a0The children were divided into four colored-teams and worked in stations. Prior, they were able to practice here\u00a0for a few days. \u00a0This will be\u00a0the last time to use the current gymnasium for\u00a0Sports Day, as a new sports-cafeteria complex\u00a0will be rebuilt in its place. \u00a0This happens to have been\u00a0the same facility\u00a0that Ms. Mimi and Ms. Sallie used when they were students.<\/p>\n This school year, the children in our class represent nine\u00a0different countries: Canada, China, France, India, Japan, Pakistan, Romania, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The children learned\u00a0who came from which continent, from which country. \u00a0The maps and flags they\u00a0look at in the classroom are real to them, as they\u00a0relate to their\u00a0dear classmates. \u00a0The world in which we live becomes a closer\u00a0place. \u00a0The children can apply the knowlege of their geography to make it real whenever their dads and moms go on business trips, or the families go take\u00a0a personal\u00a0excursion. Geography is one of the popular\u00a0areas of learning in our Montessori\u00a0classrooms.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Life cycle of a butterfly<\/strong>: The children learned about the life cycle of a butterfly, and made a 3D craft of the four stages in the life cycle. \u00a0They learned a big word, “metamorphosis<\/strong>” \u2014the change into different forms: from egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, to an adult butterfly.<\/p>\n “Look! \u00a0A real white butterfly is on my finger!”<\/p>\n Our last day of school was on June 2nd. \u00a0The parents and some grandparents gathered in the classroom before dismissal time, to present to the students moving on to first grade, a smock-shaped photo card from all their classmates, and to say farewell to Iris, who will be moving to Germany.<\/p>\n The Senior Graduation:<\/strong> The Senior (12th grade) graduation ceremony was held on June 3rd in the Fine Arts Auditorium. \u00a0This year there were 36 graduates, five of whom\u00a0started their education from our very own Montessori classrooms. \u00a0Two of the Senior graduates,\u00a0\u00a0Naoko and Helena, were in Ms. Mimi’s class (with Mrs. Almoula back then). \u00a0The two girls\u00a0started Montessori as morning children,\u00a0and were in the same classroom for three years. \u00a0We wish the Senior graduates all the best in their future endeavors, as they leave Saint Maur to commence a new chapter in their\u00a0global\u00a0world.<\/p>\n Have a safe and relaxing summer vacation, wherever you may be. \u00a0Thank you for reading our class blogs this school year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" “Hello, bonjour, buenos dias … hello to all the children of the world!” It’s already the end of the school year! \u00a0Each child accomplished so much in the 10\u00a0months! \u00a0A great example is how the older children made maps of the continents, countries\u2014and territories or provinces\u2014learning the names and the flags. There were so many…<\/a> <\/a> <\/a>On May 11th, the\u00a0annual Montessori Family Picnic<\/strong>\u00a0was held in a large public park, called Shinrin Koen or better known as Negishi Park. \u00a0All the Montessori children with\u00a0their families\u00a0spent the time playing among\u00a0the green nature and picnicking on the grassy knoll. The many families mingled and had fun from morning to early afternoon. \u00a0The weather\u00a0turned out to be\u00a0a lovely early-summer’s day.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>Montessori Completion ceremony <\/strong>was held on June 5th in the Montessori Fine Arts auditorium. Congratulations to the nine children going to first grade. \u00a0They cover the range in time spent with us: some for three years, some two, for some just one and some for a few months.<\/p>\n<\/a>There were 27 students in total who completed the Montessori program, nine from each of the three classes.\u00a0 Hope they will remember all the fun times they had in Montessori.<\/p>\n<\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
