Trepak

I love the music from The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky. Grade 2 did an excellent job learning a movement sequence to ‘Trepak’ today and listening out for the different sections (AABA + coda). They were proud of themselves too and really wanted to record it so their parents can watch it at home.

We also did the same activity in 1P using movement scarves first as a whole class before creating their own AABA movement sequences in small groups.

2018 Motomachi Christmas Performance

Today’s music performance at Motomachi was a huge success! I was especially proud of the MS and HS choir students who were able to come. We were only around 1/3 of our usual size but everyone sang their best and they sounded amazing! Our performance of ‘A Million Dreams’ was definitely a crowd pleaser.

Last Choir Rehearsal

Last Friday was our last Grade 4 choir rehearsal of Semester 1, we revised all the songs we’d done this year so far and finished with a student song request – Alone by Alan Walker. Was a fun and energizing way to end the week!

Li’l Liza Jane – Grade 4

Working in groups to create their own sequences for Li’l Liza Jane. Students were told the focus of the task: collaboration and presentation (i.e. listen to everyone’s ideas, group formation, clear/strong start and finish).

1P Songs

I definitely have the best job in the world! Not only can I share my love of music, I also get to spend time with amazing students everyday and learn from them also. These girls made up their own songs during lunch recess and were so excited to share them with me and the rest of their class!
