VISITS TO COLLEGE CAMPUSES IN OTHER COUNTRIES
A very valuable activity during the summer or other vacations is to visit universities and colleges in the United States, Canada, Britain, or other countries. Students don’t need to decide where they want to attend; they will gain a lot simply by seeing the campus grounds and facilities. Arrange in advance to take a guided tour organized by the Admissions Office to get the maximum benefit. While it is not necessary to have a formal interview, students can talk informally with the Admissions Office staff. In addition, the English-medium universities in Japan also have “Open Campus” days throughout the year, which students and parents can visit and observe classes.
SUMMER COURSES AND PROGRAMS
Many programs are offered on university campuses during the summer, combining academic classes and new experiences in living independently. Students and parents should begin planning now how best to use the summers before Grades 11 and 12. Information is available at school, and counselors can help students and parents apply for these programs.
