{"id":555,"date":"2017-12-07T10:42:04","date_gmt":"2017-12-07T01:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.stmaur.ac.jp\/3b\/?p=555"},"modified":"2017-12-07T10:42:04","modified_gmt":"2017-12-07T01:42:04","slug":"swi-investigating-the-letter-c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.stmaur.ac.jp\/3b\/2017\/12\/07\/swi-investigating-the-letter-c\/","title":{"rendered":"SWI: Investigating the letter C"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whenever a student has a pressing question about words,\u00a0 the question is placed on our Wonder Wall so that we can revisit and investigate it later.\u00a0During a recent Structured Word Inquiry (SWI) session, a few grade 3 students added a question for us to investigate.<\/p>\n<p>They had noticed that the letter C made different sounds depending on the word it was in. The &lt;c&gt; could be at the beginning, end, or middle of the word. Some of these words included:\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>c<\/strong><\/span>elebration,\u00a0chara<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>c<\/strong><\/span>ter,\u00a0fa<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>c<\/strong><\/span>e,\u00a0and\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>c<\/strong><\/span>ommunicate.<\/p>\n<p>The student shared some of these words to be written on the white board and suggested categories for these words.
