On Sunday, April 29, 2018, the Saint Maur community gathered to celebrate another successful Food Fair! The Saint Maur family of students, teachers, staff, parents, bakers, cooks, grill masters, beer tappers, ice shavers, face painters, vendors, musicians, and more put on a fair that was better than ever. The beautiful weather meant a huge turn-out from the community to enjoy the food and shopping, and to show support for Saint Maur.
A huge thanks to Mr. Phil Haigh for taking and sharing the lovely photographs below.
On April 8, 2018 Saint Maur students, parents, teachers, and staff gathered to celebrate spring at Negishi Forest Park. Everyone brought a dish to share and enjoyed socializing under the beautiful spring blossoms.
Instead of hearing a guest speaker as at most PSG coffee mornings, in April 2018 parents gathered to continue planning for the upcoming Food Fair. The Korean families provided a delicious spread of treats to keep everyone well fueled.
On Wednesday, March 14, 2018 the elementary students gathered in the cafeteria for some bingo fun! Congratulations to all of the winners. The biggest winners of the day were Trin, who won the Deluxe Baking Basket, and co-winners Philip and JJ, Principals for a Day. Thanks to all who came out to play, and to the parents and students who helped make the day so much fun for our bingo players.
First day of March belonged to the monthly PSG Coffee Morning. Although the weather was cold and windy, many of the Saint Maur parents made their way to school to meet with others and nibble on home-made cakes and quiches prepared by French families. It was a real feast. Who had a breakfast at home earlier that morning, must have regretted it later. Many of the parents stayed for an interactive workshop on smart phone photography led by Renata Jaroscakova. The audience learned not only how to take good pictures with a phone but also the basics of good photography in general and how to pose to look better on photographs.
Everybody is invited to the monthly PSG Coffee Morning this Thursday, March 1 in the cafeteria. Let’s meet from 8:30 in the cafeteria side room to taste the snacks prepared by French families. An interactive workshop by Renata Jaroscakova on how to take better pictures with your phone will start at 9:15. Looking forward to see you there with your phones in hand.
Our annual social event for parents, staff and friends was a great success! We had a terrific group of people who really got into the spirit with some amazing costumes and dance moves. YC&AC was a very accommodating venue for our event. Our DJ for the night, who is a grade 10 parent – George Cockle, spun some great tunes taking us back to the 70s (and even threw in a couple of current tunes). Our band, Romero Special with Yasuyo, was fantastic, with great songs and dance moves. The band included a mom and dad – Yasuyo and Koji – from grade 2 and this is the second year they have performed for us. We are very lucky to have such a talented community who willingly support our events! A huge thank you to everyone who participated in organizing this event – we are grateful for your support! And of course… we are already starting to think about next year… perhaps a little Rock & Roll party… 80s theme… Great Gatsby… we will see but be sure not to miss it!
Like every month, the first Thursday in February belonged to the PSG Coffee Morning. This time, PSG invited Alice Harrington, who has been an expat in Japan for more than 50 years. Our jaws dropped listening to Alice talking about her family’s adventures. Looking at the black and white photographs of old Yokohama, it was hard to believe it’s the same city we live in now. Thanks to the Japanese moms, the intriguing talk was accompanied by delicious treats that were nearly too beautiful to eat. Just see for yourself at the photo gallery bellow.
February is nearly here! Our monthly PSG Coffee morning comes very early in the month this time. Please come and join us on Thursday February 1st from 8:30 to 10:00 in the cafeteria. We have invited a long-term expat in Japan, Ms. Alice Harrington to share her very interesting life story with us. It’s worth hearing her talk about the adventures that her family went through 50 years of living in Japan. The presentation will start at 9:15.
We kindly ask Japanese families to bring their treats to share with the community.
Hope to see you all there!
