Timeline to Prepare for College Admissions

AUTUMN

  • Guidance 12 class (three times each month)
  • Further research on colleges to narrow down the final list for applications (due in late September)
  • Decide whether or not to apply for earlier deadlines (by late September)
  • Ask for teacher recommendations (due in mid-October)
  • Ask for academic transcripts (due in mid-November)
  • Campus visits and interviews where possible (Open Campus days, October vacation)
  • SAT Reasoning Test (Saturdays in early October and early November)
  • SAT Subject Tests (Saturdays in early October and early November)
  • TOEFL Test (as arranged by students individually)
  • Complete college applications (by December or earlier)
  • Complete UCAS Application Personal Statement (by end of October)

WINTER

  • Guidance 12 class (three times each month)
  • Decide which AP exams to take in May (by late November)
  • Complete and send college applications by deadlines (December, January, February)
  • SAT Reasoning Test (Saturdays in early December and late January)
  • SAT Subject Tests (Saturdays in early December and late January)
  • TOEFL Test (as arranged by students individually)
  • Evaluate conditional offers from British universities
  • IB/AP Mock Exams (early-mid February)
  • Complete Internal Assessment requirements for IB courses (by March)

SPRING

  • Guidance 12 class (three times each month)
  • Complete all internal subject requirements by April
  • Receive college acceptances in April
  • Final decision on which college to attend by 1 May (U.S.) or 1 June (Canada) (Other national deadlines vary)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) exams in May
  • Special schedule of Senior Seminar transition activities in late May-early June
